Icy Weekend Skiing in Jay Peak – Vermont, US

4 skiers and 1 boarder looking for snow at Jay Peak, Vermont. As you might notice, the snow was just a dusting above a hard, thin layer of ice. We normally spend most of a ski trip in the glades but with the snow being as scarce as it was we were having fun just plowing through sticks and shrubs normally hidden under the snow. Naturally, all those sticks and shrubs fought back and we had a great time falling all over the place. Enjoy!

We have had plenty of experience making the best of bad ski conditions in the East coast over the years.

Also, a game of hide-and-seek in the condo can be lots of fun (once you black-out all sources of light).

Sweet video! The music goes really well.

  2. I like the video! I haven’t gone skiing since a particular incident where I rolled down a mountain losing my skis and ski poles…

Thanks Colleen – Maybe I should have left some of the skiing audio in. While Kris is lying there all you can hear is him laughing away! The rest of the audio was the awful sound of skis on ice so I decided against it.
I’m jealous you’re at Angkor Audrey. I was there with my mom when I was younger and the number of sites was a blur.

How much fun does that look on the video! Were you using a GoPro camera? I loved when you started skiing backwards.

Awesome video, but what I’m equally impressed with is the photo underneath. How many yoga classes did it take to become that flexible 😉

I think a more appropriate question is, “how much scotch do you need to drink to painlessly fit into a cupboard?”

The camera is a GoPro Hero 3 Black. It is not without flaws and their support is awful so I would suggest considering all the alternatives but the flat lens on the underwater case is a definite plus. Falling while skiing with friends is one of my favourite parts of ski trips (though way more fun when knee deep in powder).

I haven’t skied at Jay Peak since I was a kid. I actually remember masses of snow. Fun video and love the music that’s playing too.

Why is falling so funny!? This video made my day and make me miss the mountains! I snowboard and feel like trying to board through the trees is the most tiresome experience, yet so much fun!
